Its in my signature. Neg 5F. I bury some of my plants in a deep pile of leaves covered by a plastic tarp to keep the leaves dry. I made a wire mesh cage last year to protect my plants from rodents under the leaves. It worked.

I keep the S. purpurea and others in my unheated detached garage. They freeze, but survive.

Purps are usually the most cold hardy of all sarrs. You should try a division outdoors this winter. I'm willing to bet it survives.

I have all of my plants in pots, no outdoor bog. I store all my S. psittacina, S. leucophylla, S. minor and hybrids of them under the leaf pile. The VFT go under there to. Some of the orchids go there as well. I have to get going on that for this year.

All of mine are in pots too. Doesn't get as cold as it gets there here but we drop into the mid teens and all of my sarrs do just fine. Purps I never worry about.
