AtoZ’s Seed Sowing
I’ve been growing from seed for about a year now, and recently have ordered many species from Koehres and Mesa Gardens that I’ll be sowing soon (Mostly Lophophora, Ariocarpus etc.) For most of my seed sowing, I use a mix of calcined clay, small granule decomposed granite, and sifted potting soil. Sterilized with microwave and hydrogen peroxide spray, and under 3,000 lumen LED light panels with a timed heat mat.
Following this introduction is the progress of them all....

This morning I noticed these just now coming up, sown on the 13th of July, making the germination time 3 days! Ariocarpus scaphirostris SB 829 (Rayones, NL, MEX) from Mesa Garden.

What do you estimate your lumens per square foot to be?and under 3,000 lumen LED light panels

3,000. My panels are already a square foot each.

Re: AtoZ’s Seed Sowing
I mean what's the light intensity on your seedlings. For example, I have a 1800 lumen lamp, but the light intensity on my seedlings is maybe 300-500 lumens/sf because the light spreads out as it moves away from the bulb

Ah, ok. My seedlings with the exception of some of the more light sensitive ones are at exposure of about 800-900 lumens/sf.

Re: AtoZ’s Seed Sowing
Can you speak to your germination rates and success? I've had such mixed results from this vendor. Always great customer service and speedy delivery, but some seeds germinate over 80% while others are less than half for the same species, just different variety.Atozbotanicals wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2019 10:34 pm My first seed order from Koehres has arrived after about 11 days.

Yes, I planned on posting some photos of the L. fricii today, 14/20 seed have germinated, and I’m getting around to sowing the other species soon.Pereskiopsisdotcom wrote: ↑Mon Aug 12, 2019 2:17 pmCan you speak to your germination rates and success?
