Help please

Post by Jim1959 »

I purchased a euphorbia lactea cv. Gigantea a few weeks ago. Tag was costa farms. So far I am not finding much imformation on them and no where that sells them. Any help would be great. Am pretty sure they are not the only ones that sell these.

Code: Select all

Maybe that is because this specific plant is not native in your area.
I noticed something similiar while researching succulents. There are some succulents that are native in Germany, like houseleek and stonecrop, but a lot are not.
For example most kinds of Echeveria would not survive a winter outside here in Germany. Too cold and too wet. So they are not that common. Sometimes when I buy succulents they are just labled as Echeveria no matter of what type of Echeveria it is. But usually I buy 'indoor plants' which gives me just enough information to not let them die outside in winter.
There is not that much information out there in my native language.
I registered here because I was looking for the name of one of my succulents. I got help and I found out that my succulent is probably a Graptoveria Moonglow. It does not have a german name. I googled it and I have not found a single german website.
Maybe you are experiencing something like that too, because your plant is not native in an english speaking area.

I'm not sure what you are after.

Presumably it's a large growing form of E. lactea that someone with a nursery spotted in cultivation, propagated by cuttings and gave it a cultivar name "gigantea" to help marketing. And, continuing the assumptions, it hasn't become massively popular, or been taken on widely by large commercial nurseries, hence the lack of information on it. Or maybe it's not been around long, and hasn't yet become massively popular..

Costa farms don't currently list it, if you are still wanting info you could contact them: http://www.costafarms.com/contact-us/contact

I think it has been around long enough. This is the stock that has been to graft crested euphorbia lactea
