Gymnocalycium baldianum flowers

Hi All. It looks like my Gymnocalycium baldianum is starting to grow blossoms. this is the first time for me. I would like to know if these bloom at night or in the day?

They open in sunshine so I would say in the day

Yes, they love to bloom on sunny day, or mine Gymno's do at least.

G. baldianum is red flowered and generally coloured flowers open during the day. There are odd coloured flowers that do open at night, but colour is not much use in the dark, particularly with moth pollinated flowers.

Of course day flowering plants have all flower colours as well as white.

thanks all. the buds are still pretty small so it may be a while. I have had this specimen for a few years but this is the first year I have put it outside for the summer.
