Miles' To Go Fall plant list out!

Post by george76904 »

Well I am not sure if anyone is as excited about it as I am, I saw the new plant list came out around 5:00 EST for anyone interested. He has lots of great stuff as always but he has added a few really interesting ones like azketium ritteri, discocactus horstii, and blosfeldia liliptuana. I have already placed an order... and blew my budget through december :D :D ](*,). But hey I won't be buying plants when its cold right? :D!

Yes sorry Aiko I was referring to Miles' To Go. He has an excellent plant list, unfortunately he "[...only ships to the U.S. and her Territories.]"
Sorry for not clarifying that.

I have nothing but great things to say about the high quality of M2G's plants, and it was a pleasure to meet Miles Anderson live and in person at the Inter-City show last month. Here he is:

Image

The show opened at 9 a.m. on Saturday August 8, and by the time I got to his table at around 11, most of the cacti he brought were already sold. Unfortunately M2G isn't set up for walk-in trade, but if you can't see Miles at the shows, the next best thing is his website with plenty of photos of the plants he sells online.
If you just want photos without all the blather, please visit my Flickr gallery.

I have only met once Miles, he's very personable and very very friendly.

He and his plants are worth every trip.

He allows people to visit, but you must arrange the visit ahead of time. It's sort of out of the way down a dirt road...but, well worth the extra effort!

Thank you so much! I am so frustrated with myself, a few years back I used to drive to Tuscon for a change in pace from Phoenix, and oh I wasn't into cactus. Now that I'm half way across the country I have cactus fever. Makes sense right 8-[ 8-[ 8-[

Well I only ordered Myrtillocactus geometricans v "Fukurokury............. " longlong name, and Mammillaria Deherdtiana.

There were many many more I wanted, but Im v. nervous about picking up plants this late in the season. Things will start to get cold, dark, and dreary here in the next 2-3 weeks :sad9: ](*,)

If anyone else did place an order please share what you ended up getting!

Pushrestart: I did like the look of the myrtillocactus but the others on the want list took priority. I really hope you have better luck with the Deherdtiana than I have had. I hope 3rd time is the charm because the first 2 went south on me. I think the first time it got an infection of some sort but it rotted from the top down, the 2nd time my guess was that it wasn't sheltered from high wind and rain; we got a downpour with really strong winds that may have watered it only a few days after I watered it. It went downhill fast. But the 3rd one still gives AWESOME flowers and is looking ok. Hope it goes well for you. As for ordering this close to winter. I ordered from Miles the first time last January and the plants were OK.

Wow 27 plants in one go, George    ! Thats a fantastic list of plants, they should keep you busy for awhile 8) .
Yeah the Myrtillocactus wasnt even on the top of my list but when I saw it for sale I was like into the cart you go, hopefully I can get the others come Spring. Good luck with your new Deherdtiana, its still alive which means you understand it this time around. What are you growing yours in and how often are you watering? ...Yeah I've heard this one is very rot prone :?, Im planning on keeping it indoors in pure pumice, away from all sources of moisture. When you ordered back in Jan did you pot them up immediately or wait till Spring?

I ordered 2 in January out of those I killed both, but I ordered one in may. It is potted in my own mix, sifted potting soil with lots of perlite mixed in. The ones from winter I potted right up (admittedly that may have led to the demise of one). Most of the crests are just so so for me, but my grandmother loves em. So I grow those mainly for her to enjoy. Most of the plants live at her house so she can see then bloom. I have seedlings at my house and a few that need more specific requirements. Recently I decided soiless was really the way to go. I have been doing straight 50-50 pearlite to coir. Would like to use pumice but I can't get it around here. So far the plants seem to like it. They certainly grow fine with it. I am doing a long term comparison. My cactus blend or soiless, I will be observing the grown between two cacti hopefully in a year or two I can have some decent results.
