no tuberous roots after degrafting

I ask the following question here because this is where the grafting experts go. How do you get tuberous roots after degrafting a cactus? I ask because recently I bought a couple Parodias. I thought most Parodias have thick roots but these two had only fibrous roots. My guess is they were grown for a while on a different rootstock and ungrafted. Is there a way to induce tuberous root formation or will they always have only fibrous roots because they lack the tissues that are needed? Would grafting them on to a tuberous rooted Parodia help? Or, would grafting in a piece of tuberous root producing tissue on the bottom help? If yes then what species?

Not all Parodia have tuberous roots, what species are you talking about?

They are comarapana and turecekiana. However, I looked at pictures of comarapana on the Internet. My comarapana looks different.
