Hello,
I bought two Ornithogalum sardienii from C and D plants early spring. Most of their leaves turned brown. Are these Winter growers? Summer growers? They are flowering right now and they are growing new leaves. I water them once a week.
Does anyone now how to grow Ornithogalum sardienii?

Hi Pins
Yes, they are winter growers, but they flower in the Summer.
They can stand being watered in the Summer with little problem
The leaves will start growing again when the Fall comes.
Almost All bulbs are Winter growers, Ledebouria being the obvious outlier with Summer growth

And some Drimiopsis, Bulbine, Hypoxis, Haemanthus, Ammocharis, Boophone disticha (although some forms occur in Winter rainfall areas). There are undoubtedly many others as well. I have Geissorhiza radians which is supposed to be a winter grower, but has been growing throughout the Summer in my greenhouse.Aiko wrote:Same goes for Massonia wittebergensis and Drimia.C And D wrote:Almost All bulbs are Winter growers, Ledebouria being the obvious outlier with Summer growth
