Any idea what these are?

Post by mattwebb »

Hi everyone :)
this is my first post so be kind to the newbie. I have had these cacti for a while but have been wondering what they actually are. Could anyone maybe be able to ID them?

Look like Echinopsis hybrid seedlings to me or very small cuttings. I understand hybrid echinopsis seedlings can be a bad deal since many of the seedling will not bloom and it may take years to find out if they do.

Yep, that's some kind of Echinopsis. It's hard to tell the species without seeing the flowers. :)

I could be way off on this guess but it looks like a Lobivia x Echinopsis hybrid. Lobivia now is lumped into Echinopsis.

I have done a bit more looking around and think I might have found what it is. After looking through pictures of flowers I think it would be Echinopsis eyriesii, I cant remember exactly what the flower looked like but I'm pretty sure it looked very similar (if not identical) to that species flower.

It could be the variable E. oxygona
