OK, so it's a pup ...

... but it's weird. It has at least three or four growing points.

Seems like they're in a tight squeeze!
Yeah, it would be nice to see how this develops, it looks like it's going to be quite interesting!

Are you sure there isn't a small nuclear-waste dump under your greenhouse, with this and your freaky P. bonnieae. And I think I remember you had a masochistic Echinocereus as well? Might want to get your Geiger-counter out. Cool plant though!

Sow enough seed and sooner or later strange things will show up.

Here's Lumpy the dichotomous Thelocactus bicolor:

And Stumpy, the Echinocereus dasyacanthus with determinate growth that needs to start a new pup each year:

Plants don't conform to man made rules. I have a Pseudolobivia that is branching dichotomously too. In the past I had a Mammillaria wildii that offsetted from the areole at the tubercle ends as well as the axils. Surprising how many exceptions can be found to so called "golden rules".

New pot, bit more room, and lifted slightly for a better view. Might be multiple pups but still a but of a crazy carbuncle. Also note the rivers of nectar.
