Given this cactus but haven't got a clue!?

Post by hardcoregeneral »

Can anybody help me identify this plant? It was given to me as a gift and I was expecting a globular plant and instead got this! It's about 4 feet tall and is just one long plant. It has little white spines where the leaves are attached. It looks like a lot of the leaves have been knocked off when someone has brushed past it, will these grow back or not? Thanks in advance.

Maybe this is a succulent and not a cactus, I'll try to move this post. Also anyone have a clue how old it might be?

I think I have answered my own question, it's a cylindropuntia imbricata I think.

A. subulata may be?

And no, leaves are leaves, they do not regrow. New growth will have leaves, once they drop - only spines remain

I agree with everyone else A. subulata, the leafs will not grow back mine has them mostly at the top half of the plant. Also mine is like that to real tall and it gets full sun almost all day long.
