Same species?

This Rebutia muscula and R. fiebrigii var spiniflora have never flowered at the same time before, but the last R. fiebrigii flower has overlapped with the first R. muscula flower this year. R. muscula has been lumped with R. fiebrigii.

interesting, if they don't normally flower at the same time they shouldn't be lumped right?

I'm not too sure about that, we might end up with names like "short fat round multi-ribbed small white-spined yellow-flowers in late summer pupping machine cactus". My plant tags are not big enough. (And I have no idea if that description matches any known plant, it wasn't meant to...)

if its tall = cereus, if its short = echinocactus....isnt that how it should be?
