Shadehouse #2

Got started on our new GH build this weekend. It went up incredibly fast compared the the first one!

Saturday me and my father mapped out the string lines and pounded all the ground posts in, even got a few arches up just to see how it looked.

Sunday Tony came by to help and we bolted in all the sidewall posts and got all the arches up and screwed together. Set 4x4 post brackets in concrete for the doorway and loosely hung the purlins.

There is still a lot to do, but to have the skeleton up in 2 days is awesome. The kit is made by Clear-Span and is well put together. A helpful addition would be pre-drilling the arches to align them easier.

Will this be a green house or a shade house?

GH or Shade house, either is wonderful. I was just wondering if it would have "solid" walls! I need the same thing, shade in the summer and some way to keep the plants warm in the winter...

Basically, it will be a mirror image of the first one. Cloth in summer, plastic in winter.

I have a really nice chain saw, let me know when you will start cutting down the rest of the trees.
You know, to make room for #3. :P

It's amazing the difference of "pre-fabricated" vs. custom built in terms of efficiency!

You are going to have some serious plants going on between the two houses!

They probably avoid predrilling the arches in order to actually reduce frustration. I've found a lot of predrilled parts to not really line up very well. Too many variables in the assembly.

This looks awesome!

As much work as it is to build these, I really enjoy it.

Awesome! I'm so jealous! Though, I'm not sure I could keep that many plants alive at the same time...
