Charlpic's First Graft

Post by charlpic »

Since my pereskiopsis are growing like weeds, I decided to try to graft a M. Elongata on it as my first graft attempt. It was easy to cut out one of the many outgrows (so, not to loose the plant).

Here's what it looks like... I hope I've off-centered it enough.

Everything has been covered with a water bottle. Let's wait and see how it reacts.

Looks good to me. pereskiopsis I find are pretty easy to graft with and dont take much precision to line up. Cant wait to see how fast this thing grows for ya!

Finally, the graft didn't take :( The scion fell off this morning. In fact, two other grafts I attempted on pereskiopsis failed. The borders of the stock seems to heal and curve in.

Is this because humidity isn't kept in very well or should I make an angle cut (as seen on opuntia grafts) to prevent this ?

Thanks,
Charles
