Parodia Magnifica perhaps?!

If you have a cactus plant and need help identifying it, this is the place to post it.

Parodia Magnifica perhaps?!

Post by LazyD »

This is my most recent addition - bought it yesterday and potted it today. I saw it and grabbed it quickly thinking it is a Parodia magnifica but after reading Daiv's article I am not sure any more...

Any ideas on what this is?

Do you mean this post: http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=18328

?

One thing I would add is that it seems to be harder to ID on younger plants than the older ones. I think P. magnifica is most likely, but you might want to keep an eye on it as it gets bigger.

Yes Daiv that is the post I was referring to.

I got all excited in the plant store as this was on my list of cacti to acquire. However when I got it home and compared it to pictures in your post I began to doubt myself as the colour did not seem to match and my cactus has 11 ribs as opposed to 10 ribs shown in the pic.

But as you said it is hard to ID young plants so I guess I will just wait and see...
