Critter thread

Post by GermanStar »

I thought I'd start a thread for folks to post pics of wildlife visitors to our homes and gardens. We have a lot of wildlife here, and I photograph 'em as I'm able. I'll start with a couple of Peccary pics (locals call them Javalina for some reason). These guys wander through my property all the time.

Here's a member of the local bobcat community. This little guy actually stopped and posed for me, that after years of trying to get some decent shots.Image

They were partyin' down hard for three days, and were none too fond of folks nosing around with a camera, either. Diamondback rattlers are normally very timid, never looking for a confrontation with a non-prey animal, but these guys actually charged me -- more than once. After three days, they were never seen again, nor did I ever encounter any little ones.

Snapped this just yesterday evening while the coffee was brewing. Was getting dark so poor photo that was brightened.

Red Tailed Hawk. See them all the time even right in the yard. For some strange reason the cat wants a piece of him. She runs after it whenever it flys away

Bobcat and Bear sightings galore in the immediate area but I've seen nothing yet :(

Nice shot. We have lots of hawks here as well, including red-tails, but it's pretty rare to spot then anywhere but flying overhead.

Thanks for posting! Really nice pics all around! We've had bats IN the house.

I started this thread with my sightings:

Wish I didn't make it so exclusive - better to have everyone sharing like this!

Please feel free to give your thread a more generic name, then merge it with this. Both threads would be better for it.

I like the idea of a critter thread and a bird thread. I'm sure that many of the rest of us like to see what's going on in other peoples gardens. I've posted this before, but it is one of my favorite "critter" shots.
