Another Arizonan, Tucson
Hello,
Recently joined. This is first post. CactiGuide can become addicting. Alas, income dictates a phone modem connection which greatly inhibits my exploration. Some of you may know what I'm talking about.
I started putting in plants about 15 months ago. The cactus and succulents number about 16, and other low-water perennials (penstemon, salvia, justicia...) bring total up to about 30. I'm a convert to C&S...they ask so little and give so much.
I see that some long-time members respond to new member intros. I want to ask a question, if I may.
What is the procedure for submitting a photo to the Cactus Picture Contest? I've looked at CPC forum and read the Annoucements about rules, format and schedule. Am I correct in assuming an Annoucement will appear there for submissions to Contest 44?
Hope to meet up with other new members in yours and my further inquiries and comments.

Hi and glad to have you. You're in cactus central and many of our members are from there.
The picture contest thread is due to be started. Everyone is welcome to participate by both entering a picture and voting. Each contest has little rules about what subject matter to post, but that's it.

All Cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are Cacti

Hi. Another Arizonan here. (well a transplant, but hey not too many cacti grow in the ground in PA!)
PeterB is right someday AZ will own this forum hahaha
Welcome to the forum. I know what you mean about the crappy internet connection. I used to be barely able to run at 26.6 baud rate back in PA. Out here at least you can run 56.6 baud rate without too much trouble.
I am lucky to run at 54MBpS now. Oh well, it's a free connection I mooch off of!
