Connection Speed Survey

This is the second survey to get an idea of what kind of connections our members have.

Remember, the votes are anonymous so don't be shy.

There are no guarantees as to what changes may or may not be made based on these results, but I think it is better to know that not.

Thanks again!

Bummer. It really is slow going getting high-speed to rural areas.

Because this pole was made almost up to 4 years ago, should we make another one?

Well we live in town - albeit a small town, but we have Charter Cable for internet. It is faster than my connection in San Clemente which was with Cox.

I suspect that it is partly because a lot less people here are on the same pipe.

According to:
http://www.speedtest.net/

I got these speeds on three tests:
down: 7476 kb/s
up: 974 kb/s

down: 7851 kb/s
up: 981 kb/s

down: 9403 kb/s
up: 941 kb/s

Since I signed up there is an option for a faster connection, but I don't need it.

and not to mention that I am using a stupid WI-FI type set up I got....
2.49MBps and .53MBps for upload.

I know its slow... however I am on the end of the line on a wi-fi network that sucks....before when I lived in PA my connection speed on dial-up was 26.5Kb/s. Lame I know... lol

My income depends on being able to deliver files to sites all over the US, Japan and Europe. So, I got the baddest cable I could get because there wasn't anything else available (other than DSL and dialup) at the time. I could not even imagine how impatient I would be if I had to wait for DSL, let alone dialup, to upload or download large files! I would no longer have white hair, I would be bald, because I'd tear it all out in frustration!

I want my computer and connections to be like my husband likes his cars ... fast and powerful!

Haven't had action on this one in a while. Here are some CactiGuide.com stats:

Cable Users 32%
DSL 30%
Unknown 28%
T1 8%
Dial up 2%

Note that the upload speed is way off! It's just a peak error. My connection is 10/10 fiber.

Survey started back in 2006 - doubt if anyone still has dial-up. Don't know of any ISP offering it anymore.
