Opuntioids say go!
Opuntioids say go!
I'm mostly an "other succulents" guy, but as I lose interest in most of the "other" cacti, I get more interested in the opuntioids. They have taken pride of place in my new greenhouse (same as it ever was):
This is the opuntioid annex, more littl'uns:
I'm just a beginner, but I love my little collection!

Hey,
some of those look a little familiar to me too!
Looks like you have some O. santa-rita with the longer spines, some O. phaeancantha and it also looks like you have some C. spinisor and C. anacantha(or however its spelled).
Whatever the case they all look nice!
I wish I had some of your specimens they are nice.

I was going from a list, not thinking about the plants, it was late, AND O. compressa is listed as a synonym of O. ficus-indica here on cactiguide....that's my excuse, and I'm sticking to it!Andy_CT wrote:Nice Opuntiad list!
These are two totally different species. ficus-indica is a large mild climate plant, humifusa is a smallish ground hugger that grows up the East coast to Cape Cod.lancer99 wrote: Opuntia ficus-indica ?? compressa aka O. humifusa
Bill, all the plants you sent last summer are doing well, with the one exception of O. mackensenii (O. cymochila) that got extremely shrivelled over the winter. But it was already rooted, so I think it's just a matter of time. So thx for those again.

Scratch O. mackensenii from the list, I forgot to delete that after I added the new name O. cymochila. And Consolea spinossissima, which didn't make it over the winter.
