So last weekend, Jenni, Tony and I went to the SCCSS show and sale. I remebered getting some *not so seen* stuff last year, so thought it would be worth the trip...it was
It's held at the South Coast Botanical Gardens ir Gardena, CA...but we didn't do the tour this time.
I took some pics of the show plants. Enjoy!
Astrophytum asterias
These 2 Astros were pretty large, softball size. (5-6" dia.)
Astrophytum cv. SUPERKABUTO
Austrocylindropuntia floccosa
Seems a bit too green and rubbery...maybe not enough light?
Acharagma roseana
A nice big clump!
Echinocereus brandegeei
Another impressive clump.
Echinocereus viridiflorus ssp. davisii
Echinocereus viridiflorus
Echinocereus knippelianus

that Mam leptacantha sure looks like a Cochemiea. I'd say maybe C. pondii? or C. maritima. I was in a hurry when I typed this earlier...yes, spectacular show! And I took a minute to look up Mammillaria leptacantha (now a ssp. under rekoi) and I guess it could be the pictured plant. I still think maybe Cochemiea.
