Lewis and Clark

Post by lancer99 »

Not as off-topic as it may seem!

It turns out Lewis was quite the amateur botanist, and a keen observer. Here are his descriptions of a plant he encountered during their expedition:

The explanations of botanical terms are written for a non-technical audience (like me!), so I found it to be a good review, and also interesting from a historical point of view.

Not really a book about plants, but, fits the subject post.

Talking about field work, Lewis & Clark fans/scholars will find this a must read -- It gets my highest recomendation!!

Undaunted Courage by Stephen F. Ambrose

Very interesting... how fun it would be to see one completely new thing after another during that golden age of discovery!
