Haven't posted in a minute and it's way overdue. Quite a bit has happened since I posted last and I got a bunch of plants from C and D plants a little while back. Unfortunately I discovered root mealybugs on a few cacti (of my own, not ones I received from C and D) and have been looking into possible treatment options and trying to decide if it's even worth it to save the ones that I've confirmed have root mealys. I've been busy with non-cacti related things and haven't had time to do much besides keep everything watered and enjoy some flowers.

Even though this spectre of root mealybugs is threatening to detract from my enjoyment of the hobby a bit, I'm trying to stay focused on the enjoyable parts until I have everything in order to do a full repotting/treatment for the collection. So, to that end, flowers!

And a day of attempting crosses. No real aim, just practicing and will grow any seeds out to see if anything cool comes up. Only thing I'm truly tracking is the seed parent with notes about what could have been the pollen donor.

And this nice little uknown Lobivia(?) bloomed. Perhaps it's considered Echinopsis now, I'm not really sure. I'm leaning towards Lobivia tiegeliana, maybe var. pusilla or var. distefanoia. Regardless it's gorgeous and the flower is huge compared to the plant. Got it at the Chicago Cactus and Succulent Society Show last year.
