MJ,
no problem. Your garden is neat. From the winter pictures of everything under ice and snow to the spring/summer pics when they are all in bloom.. it's a neat garden. :)

As for the seeds, I don't have any Corypantha sulcata so if you are willing to send me some seeds of them I will try my hand at growing some. :)
Here's to you, all you insidious creatures of green..er I mean cacti.

I was bad  and bought one of these at walmart last night. It already has buds on it. Does yours stay out year round? I have seen conflicting info on their hardiness.

CactusSquirrel - My oldest Lobivia aurea leucomalla has been through many winters outside unprotected, including 7F then snow, then 9F and more snow.

Similar results with:
Notocactus apricus (aka N. concinnus)
Notocactus submammulosus
(often to be found in the department stores)

and Trichocereus /Lobivia formosus (this one you will have to order from a nursery - I got mine from Mesa Garden!!!!!)

Then they won't mind the light frosts here. I grew up in NY and I don't miss the snow. Your Opuntia Robusta is very nice too. How old is yours? I have a pad I'm going to root, do I have to wait for many years before it will bear fruit?

It has been in that spot since 2009 - so four years.

It did not bloom until last year, so I reckon at least three years for you to see blooms (but the flowers pale in comparison to the drama of the spiny blue pads).

So love to see your stuff, MJ, mostly because I have a LOT of your plants. Even if they don't thrive (or make it), it keeps the hope going. Only "life" in the CH bed @ the moment is the tiniest of pad/blossom buds on several O. fragilis & the E. coccineus (which is looking Really established now :D ) has 4 tiny blossom buds poking out. The Esc. missour. gave me a whole slew of ripe FB's with LOTS of seeds. I swear I only saw 2 blossoms, so where the other 7 FB's came from... :-k -- have to assume some sneaky blossoms where there!
Once bitten by the cactus collecting/growing bug, there is no known cure!
There's no 12 step programme for Cactaholics...so I shall just have to get some more!!
