Looking good Byron . . . There's a house on Willow Street (between Cherry Avenue and Lincoln Avenue) in San Jose, who has three huge Opuntia quitensis, or Opuntia quimilo plants along with many other cacti and succulents planted in his front yard. I've been wanting to stop and ask him for a pad or two. TonyImage

I was quite surprised when I first saw this species flowering at the end of the cladode like that.

Daiv: I was also surprised when I found the itty bitty flower at the end of the cladode. That plant came from Altmans so it's probably a descendent of this patchw:
