Kinda looks to me like your coccineus plants may still be with you after all!

I see one bud on the polyacantha, don't miss it

I don't think it ever produced seeds. I know I hoped they would, but when it flowered it turned out that they were both females. ](*,)

I am looking forward to it! Hopefully it will bloom while I am home as I will be going out of town later next week.

Great to see them flowering. How about planting a few small ones to close the winters gaps?
I´m gonna put some more Echinocereus in the outside growing area this year too I think.

A few Gymnocalycium bruchii and G. gibbosum do look ok too.

Thanks Andy! I think I won that one at a raffle at the Fort Worth C and S society. It didn't look the prettiest when I got it, but it sure has turned around! 8)

Yes, I have quite a few smalls ones that were sent to me from a fellow forum member that I will plant soon. I still need to get around to finishing to remodel the front bed first. #-o

The outdoor bed is really developing nicely John. Those Yucca spikes are really nice. I think some Yuccas die after blooming, but perhaps not this species. Do you know?

Thanks! I'm pretty sure this one does not die. I have never really seen many dead ones around here.

Ok. It has been delayed long enough! I have finally started rebuilding my cactus garden today. What did I do when I first built this garden? #-o

As recommended, I decided on a mixture of the native sandy soil (Not from our property - our property has clay soil, but there is sandy soil locally.) and decomposed granite. I did not like the idea of leaving the old soil, so I am taking all of it out and replacing it with my new soil which is totally different from the old soil. I have raised up the border. I also decided to expand it just a little in the rebuild  Now is the best time to do it since the rest is all under construction. And you can never have too much space right? 8-[

Here is a picture from April:

Here is a picture from today. As you can see I all ready outlined the area to be expanded.

The poor lawn is getting quite a bit of use during the construction with all of these heavy containers and rocks!

Image

A portion of the old soil is removed now:

After an afternoon of work, here is where it stands. I have removed about 2/3 of what I want to, and have replaced it with my new soil mixture. I also planted a couple of the larger plants that needed to go in the ground. You will notice that I added the Ocotillo on the side, and moved the Yucca rostrata that was there before back a bit.

Brand new Ocotillo.

Top view. I haven't decided what I am doing with that awkward "twice edged by stone" area by the Texas Sage and the Yucca rostrata. I will have to figure out something to make it flow a bit better and look nicer than two pieces of stone with some soil in between. It works for now though.

Image

I just have to finish up the rest of the garden, then I can finally plant all of the plants that have been waiting to go in the garden for the past few months :D
