So a year as gone by and i am still here...
It seems like it was just a couple of weeks ago that i started collecting cacti, but in fact it has been over a year now.
A year as gone by since that late February day that i decided to buy my first cacti, a day i do not regret, and believe it to be one of the best decision i have made
.
Why? Because they have been extremely beneficial to my well being, both physically and emotionally they have helped me, they are indeed a great way to help with stress...
On the 27th of February i bought my first plants, 2 Trichocereus bridgesii, 2 Hoodia Gordoniis, 1 Lophophora Wil. , 1 Steno. Multicostatus, and another i never identified...of those 7, only two remain today, a Hoodia Gordoniis, and the multicostatus.
A month after my first purchase i had already close to 30 cacti...but then things changed...the place were i was planing on putting them suffered some changes, suddenly there wasn't enough sun exposure, and a place that had room for over 60 cacti, quickly shrunk to a place i can barely fit 15... Things had to change, hard decisions were taken and sacrifices were made...because of that my collection never grew as it should have.
Because of it, i started selecting my plant carefully, only getting specimens that appealed to me, that were attractive, rare etc...
Even though i lack the room, and to a certain extent the solar exposure i still press on today, and after making it through my first winter with only one casualty i feel confidant on my capabilities on growing more difficult cacti and succulents.
Today i am a happy cacti grower, and i'm a big fan of Astrophytums, Lophophoras and Gymnocalyciums.
So what are my objectives for my second year of growing cacti?
1 - Increase my sun exposure further
2 - Make my updates more interesting, with better photos.
3 - acquiring new species that appeal to me (like Lobivias)
4 - get more room for cacti
Finally i would like to thank each and every single of you guys, for your patience, all your replies, all your help, and also for all the pictures you guys post that motivate me to be a better and more dedicated grower.
