It won't go over your screen. It is 100% the screen width. For Hob, that would be 800 pixels wide, for me it is 1280.

it fits now in 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768
the only 2 choices i have on this machine
i can read it ok in 800 x 600

ive been thinking about getting a bigger monitor anyway.......this one is 5 or 6 years old now and is only 15 inch diagonal 12 inch wide.

That little bit is from the margins. With a little tweaking that will go away. But first I'd like a bit more feedback.

The bottom is just a little large, just enough for the scroll bar to appear, as shown above.

Looks fine for me. I always run 1280 anyway, but now i have no dead space to the sides

Looks okay. It always takes me a while to get used to any change, but that's a personal problem.
I am noticing that the pages are loading a lot faster -- even the picture-intensive pages. Does that have anything to do with this? Whatever it is -- it's an improvement.

Nope, that is more likely affected by the number of other users sharing your connection to the web and the number of visitors on the server.

No more feedback on this? Are we happy with the full-width version of the forum?
Hob, how is it fitting on your monitor? I tweaked the margin a bit so that no horzontal scroll bar shows up.
