Official Voting Page - Cacti in Flower Contest Number 1

Post by daiv »

Let's try this again! :?

OK, you only get one vote so weigh your options and make it count!

IMPORTANT RULE NOTE: You MAY vote on your own picture. We had two schools of thought on this idea and never came to a conclusion either way. Sooo -I literally flipped a coin to determine which way to go. Heads for Vote on Own Picture Tails for not. -It was heads.

Poll will be open until 2/5/2006 at 8:00PM GMT

Happy voting!

Well folks, the picture contest is over and we have a winner!

Faslimy took first, followed by GeneS for second, while Dominique, John, and Buck all tied for third.

I can set another one up if there is interest. This first one was a bit of an experiment and the results were not too bad, but certainly with the experience gained, we could improve on the process, next go around.

Thoughts? Comments?

Daiv,

I'm convinced that this is a good thing. I don't know how we could get a group of pictures of that quality in one place any other way.

I also think that flower pictures are going to be the most popular. Maybe you could group the entries by genus (echinopsis, echinocereus, ferocactus and echinocactus)or by groups of plants, say South American columnars, or even more specifically Brazilian columnars for example. Of course the epiphytes will be very popular.

Hi All,

That's a good idea - to have entries by genus or by group. It was anyway the first go and it was really interesting to see other's plants. Not to speak of the idea of competition...

I am a bit disappointed that I couln't gather any vote, not even mine, but I am happy that the winner is a Kiwi - well done mate and congratulations!

I am ready to go for the next round!

Cheers,

Eduart

thankyou guys

incase you're wondering, it wasn't an expensive camera (kodak easyshare 4 megapixel). I used photoshop filter > sharpen and if the pixture is not to complex (flowers are perfect)it can come out nice. Before digital photos i have always taken the most terrible shots!

i liked all the photos hope we do it again.

I agree ... let's do it again. I'm open to almost any subject matter.

And ... Cheers to faslimy ... It would definately be my shout if I were in NZ, but I'll just have to owe it to you for now:-)

If you ever come this direction, there's always a room available at the Kiwi hotel (my house, but that's a whole new story).
