One ID needed

Post by fanaticactus »

Bought this locally. It's about 1.75" (about 4.5 cm) wide and 1.5" (3.55 cm) tall...almost perfectly globular. I have nothing to go by except the overall gray/green color, deep ribs, and black spines at the top. I'm kind of thinking Eriosyce, but I haven't had much experience with them, so I'm not sure. Any suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!

Agreed, it is Saguaro (Carnegiea gigantea).

Thank you both! I hadn't even considered Saguaro--didn't even know they were commonly sold around here. Well, if so, I guess I won't be seeing much growth over the years and certainly no flowers!

You'll definitely see growth, but yeah flowers will take a few decades.

Then I guess I'll try to appreciate its new growth!
