Ferobergia??

Post by cactushobbyman »

A little history on these seedlings. I have a Leuchtenbergia principis and if it flowers with my ferocactus I try to cross pollinate to get Ferobergias. I have a couple of Ferobergia seedlings that are older and these, well I'm not sure. At first I though these seedlings might be Echinocactus grusonii. Now as they are getting bigger, pictured in a 3" pot, they could be a Ferobergia. I open pollinate and I have several Ferocactus. The issue; the skin color is light blue like a Ferocactus glaucescens and the tubercle are not defined enough like most Ferobergia. Possible with more age they will fill out and most likely be Ferocactus glaucescens.

Beautiful cactus!! My first thought is that it looks like a Ferobergia for sure, with F glauscenses as the father and the L principis as the mom?
