Degrafting Sulcorebutia Rauschii
Dear members,
My apologies if this topic has been brought up in previous threads. I searched and could not find any threads on Degrafting Sulcorebutia Rauschii. Is this cactus one of the more difficult to take root once removed from the main plant? E.g - shade until rooted, medium fine sand?
I will wait for spring (Sept) before my attempt to de-graft this plant. Has anyone has success with this variety? The largest offset would be at least one inch long.
Best regards
Trevor

Re: Degrafting Sulcorebutia Rauschii
I would just take an offset off and try and root that, leaving the rest on the graft for now. I have not had any trouble rooting rauschii offsets. It's not a plant I see any point in grafting in the first place since it grows OK on it's own roots. With grafts you can sometimes have problems rooting them if you cut them off at the graft union, therefore rooting an offset can often be better.

Agreed - remove offsets to root, keep the grafted plant as a source of propagation material.

Is it advisable to degraft and plant the entire clump, perhaps after removing the offsets around the base which prevent the main head from touching the ground or if someone can guide on reducing the length of the stock such that the clump appears to be planted on the ground.

How's going?
I have faced similar problem. My stock is damage with scale, so I decide to degraft him, eventualy.
Is there any recommendations.
