Hi everybody,
I was introduced to cacti about 35 years ago. While enjoying view from the rooftop of a multistory house as a kid (yeah scary in the hindsight) I noticed a small solarium full of interesting plants with wonderful flowers hanging out of an appartment. I was so interested in finding out what is was, I figured out the apartment number and just went and knocked on the door. The elderly man was more than eager to show me his collection. And it started there.
Next thing I know, I was tagging along with him to a local cacti club, and listened to discussions without understanding much. Literally the only thing I remember was the new word in vocabulary: Mammillaria!
For the next few years, I put together a small collection from cuttings and children of cacti from anywhere I saw them: neighbors, relatives, school. Had good time cultivating and sharing with friends.
College years changed priorities, moving out of home and to another country, starting family, job, etc. this all stayed in history.
Last year almost same repeated at Home Depot: interesting plants, pretty flowers - bingo, its back on !
Following is my beginners collection.
Very happy to have found this forum.
Thank you for reigniting my childhood hobby !

Welcome!
A cactus and succulent collector who especially likes Ariocarpus. …Though I have a bit of everything! Want some pictures? See my flickr! I also do art and such.
Re: Hi from South Florida
I also want to welcome you back to the hobby of growing cacti and other succulents. You already have a pretty good assortment, including some older specimens. I also noticed, that the genus Mammillaria is well represented in your collection.
