I will be filing murder chargers ASAP!

Post by martenfisher »

The cactus plants that inspired me to grow cactus in the first place and collect fruits are no longer the beauty they once were. I don't know if this restaurant is closing or what happened all I know is they butchered them. I DID like to visit and admire these giants once in while. They make the nicest fruits nearly seedless. Cactus like this are a rare sight where I live. South Florida you see them but not here.

?%!* all cactus haters

Yeah you best be grabbing some pads then. A rescue mission is in order.

.

I know just how you feel , but maybe not Cacti related. I go to a place in my area where there is a piece of wasteland hidden away. This used to be an Ex gas and Electric works many moons ago. Well to cut it short . National Grid who do Electricity in the UK here , of who still own the land , decided Bollox to the Insects , birds and Slow worms. Were going to clear the whole side and scrape it clean.

Now me being an avid photographer and artist I was pretty pissd about this. As at one particular time of year , one part of the site erupted into colour in the Autumn or fall.

Various Trees mainly Norway Maples would turn a glorious colour , but it's all gone now =^~^=

All in the name of progress or just out of spite maybe.

It looks like either vandalism or disease to me. I can't figure out why they would intentionally knock down most of the plant, but leave the trunks and not clean up the pads.
I'm now selling plants on Ebay. Check it out! Kyle's Plants

I can't figure it out either. Just left it there. The lady gave me some pads several years ago so I already have some of this guy growing in my garden. If I had the room I would take ever last bit laying there.

I agree with saxicola, could be someone that got a bad fish sanwich.
I witnessed something similar that happened at a local garden with many very old, very large opuntia ficus indica.
It was not vandals in this case however. The plants just started falling apart.
Forget the dog...Beware of the plants!!!

If you want a prickly pear tree, perhaps they will let you dig up the stump.

I will probably go back and see about that. At least the tops. The tops are pretty hardened off.

If it was the UK I would say misguided Health & Safety for a business, just because some customer may be stupid enough to back into one, or to protect children who might handle one! :D

However if they leave the stumps it will quickly regenerate.

I was thinking if you dug one up at the root ball--trunk and all--and took it home, it could look like it did in the first picture in almost no time at all.

Cool looking plant. Worth planting some if it has as few seeds as you say. Can always find something to make with a juicy ripe cactus fruit with few seeds :-)
Hey, is it your birthday? Happy Birthday!

I was browsing a notorious auction site today and came across someone selling pads recovered from this brutal attack. I'm not sure who is selling them, but they are there for anyone who might be interested. The price ain't too bad either.
