Big Picture Project -Announcement 2

Post by daiv »

Ok, now that a couple other priority tasks have been completed, it is now time to move on to the next big project.

Some of you have already provided pictures for the project, but I may not have been able to get them all posted yet. I want to start over with the project and fill out the missing species more methodically.

Remember I am more or less using Anderson's classification as no system will please everyone:

(See: http://www.cactiguide.com/nomenclature/ )

As many notes as necessary can be added for forms, subspecies, etc. as well as notes on picture location, credits, and even return links per picture.

The goal is to have a picture for every species -young, mature, in flower, fruit, close-ups, overview shots, etc.

Remember, this is a lofty goal and may take years, but we gotta start somewhere!

Thanks in advance to eveyone who helps on this.

Did you want to start alphbetically going down the genus list, or were you thinking in terms of groups?(columnar, globuse, etc.)

EDIT: oops, just saw your Acanthacereus post, i guess it's alphabetically :D

Yes, I'd prefer to start a post for each, but if you have some ready, you can start the thread...

Man you guys are really comming up with a lot of pics! I've added tons already.

It might be easiest to e-mail me the pics or just post the link if they are on a website somewhere. That way you don't have to list out each one in a post and it should save some time.

Daiv, I notice there are no pictures of a Parodia rutilans in bloom. One of my finally had flowers this summer and you are welcome to photos of it. How should I submit them?

Hey thanks! E-mail is still the best method for my end.

Hi Daiv,
is the Big Picture Project still going on...? Are you still interested in photos? Cacti, general suculents, nothing?

I see some of the photos in this subgroup are larger than the 1024x768 maximum in effect for other groups. How do we accomplish posting larger images?

I am so sorry this great effort has stopped. Or is somebody carrying on? Who?

Pone, did you find your way with pictures? In the beginning of the "General" chapter there are some issues giving advice.
