lol when I take cuttings I generally forget about them for 6 months or so and by then they are rooted and all I need to do is stick them in the ground. I take care to acclimate them a few days to the sun also, or if it's a shade liking plant .. it goes in a shady spot..
We all do it different ways. Give me 10 people that grow cuttings and we all do it 10 different ways.

Wow, the "old man" is looking pretty hairy these days! Here's what the new growth looks like as of today:
Now check out what the new spines look like:
Can't remember seeing such long spines on a C. senilis before -- I think the "old man" approves!

Once bitten by the cactus collecting/growing bug, there is no known cure!
There's no 12 step programme for Cactaholics...so I shall just have to get some more!!

Re: C. senilis questions
Update - I just took out the ruler and checked the height of the "old man" today. It has gained 1/4" in 3 months -- definitely growing! Do we have any C. senilis veterans who can tell me what the typical yearly growth rate should be when they're cultivated in pots? As I tend to be curious about things in general, I'd be interested to find out.
