Re: Strukto 2012
With all those Weingartia, I'm sure that yellow is rapidly becoming your favorite color! Beautiful job on ALL your cacti!
Catch a falling star--but don't try it with a cactus!
Re: Strukto 2012
dean, that is a correct observation
since recently I'm a firm supporter of the 2008 revision of the genus weingartia (Hentzschel & Augustin), sulcorebutia is now included in it
Gertel & De Vries have in 2009 subdivided the genus into three groups: cumingii, sulcorebutia and weingartia
in this topic you will find more information regarding the revision: http://www.cactiguide.com/forum/viewtop ... =2&t=26235" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I have not heard of the lumping in Mosti & Papini, in fact I have never heard those names before, can you elaborate?
the echinocereus flower was 4 inches
fanaticactus, actually I consider that one of the few downsides of the weingartia and cumingii groups of the genus, how beautiful would it be if some of them had for example purple flowers.... however, there are species with red flowers, for example w. trollii
it's mainly the look of the plants themselves that attract me, and I also find the ability to have multiple flowers on one areole very interesting
having said all that, I do have a LOT of non-weingartia cacti!
