Is this a succulent?

Is this a succulent and if so, what's it called? It will have flowers soon. It was in a sunny spot, but didn't seem to grow much, so I moved it to a less sunny spot and it's thriving and producing flowers.

Its an Aloe. Maybe a hybrid?

Its definitely an aloe hybrid.
Possibly 'Doran black'?

I also agree, an Aloe hybrid. Looks like Aloe 'Lizard Lips' to me.

I can answer this question. It *is* a succulent

Thanks everyone! I think you're right Rosemarie because the color variation is the reverse of Doran black.

I have another one similar to this one, but it is bigger with different markings. It is in a sunny spot, but I may move it to a shady spot instead. I will take pics of this aloe and post them soon.
