Sharpy's 2012

Postby Sharpy » Wed May 09, 2012 12:24 am

Well here is my humble little family. Hope you enjoy.

Took in full sunlight, I think the colors are a little washed out imo.

Anything that is labeled wrong please let me know.

You already have a nice collection of Gymnocalyciums. I am certain, that you will enjoy their regeralis nice flowers. :)
Also like that Astrophytum myriosticta var. columnare and the Echinopsis subdenutada. Both of them should also procuce a pretty flower once they have reached maturity.

I'm a bit jealous of the deep green colors on your gymnos. Nice specimens.

I like your collection! Wonder how long it will take for it to outgrow your space? Have you already planned for expansion, or are you that hooked yet?

Thanks for the nice comments folks.

Was in the past year that I got the bug for the Gymnos. Have a long list of "wanted" ones.

Well the walkway and 10'x10' area is already staked out. Should be putting down the pavers in the next month. Well beyond hooked 8-[

Some flower pics from earlier this year. Need to get better at macro shots.

Haven't yet, but the G.Amerhauseri has a seed pod on it and I was almost positive it was the only flower open at that time. Someone got in there, have to see what the seeds do. The Phanzii and Mihanvichii will be getting flowers, at the same time, in a week or so. And those I will try to cross. No experience with storing pollen yet, so gonna do it the paintbrush method when the time is right.

Fairchild Gardens mini-update

Postby Sharpy » Wed May 30, 2012 12:07 am

Only took a few pics at the gardens, during the cactus show. Should have taken more but wasn't thinking about posting them. All the glass work is by Chihuly.

And IMO this was the coolest thing there. There is a trellis that goes on forever covered in this. Unfortunately we didn't hit the peak blooming time. I had to use a flash on the large picture but the color is pretty accurate. I want this for the house

There are 15 pieces of art I think, I only got those few and this last one. Hope its a descent show.

The pictures doubled at the end for some reason. Mabybe edit it for a fix.
