Tony, to be honest, I have never seen them til this year. They get the fruits which means they bloom right? I always missed them.. probably too busy looking at more impressive Opuntia, but I love their flowers. They are simple but elegant I think.

Tristian, yes I have lots of color at the moment. Pretty soon things will wind down and it will be boring, but I enjoy this time of the year the most..(well and into saguaro blooming season :))

Rich R, cool. If you are ever headed this way let me know :)

Very nice Peter! I especially like the Agaves.
Agave
"American aloe plant," 1797, from Greek Agaue, proper name in mythology (mother of Pentheus), from agauos "noble," perhaps from agasthai "wonder at".

haha well, Opuntia are very beautiful when they are in flower, or if they have neat spine structure like some of them do. I like them because the flowers are some of the best cacti produce. Sure there are some that I like just as much or more, but they are very consistent.

Ron, I will include some Agave pictures soon. I have forgotten to take some pictures of my Agave shelf ... :)

I think you will like what I did, even though it is very rough :)

The last few Opuntia flowers. The second is O. gooseliana or whatever in my neighbor's yard.

ImageSaguaro
ImageWeird spot of buds poking out of the skin, wonder if I will get a little fuzzy baby arm there?
ImageAnother weird bud poking out of the skin.. What is the deal ? lol
ImageOk Ron I lied here is my somewhat sick Agave, too much sun?
ImageO. ficus-indica cutting with a flower on it..

Quick, plant a tree next to that poor thing. How often are you watering?

A tree, or shade cloth. Someone needs to invent a spray-on sunscreen for plants...
