What Am I?
What Am I?
I acquired this from my teenage brother who after a good 5 or 6 (maybe even more!) years of, well, half-hearted care and a good dose of neglect, decided to hand it over to me.
Firstly, I was wondering what species it is?
Secondly, when I acquired it, it was very pale green, since then with a better care routine and much better soil, it appears to have gained some more colour and just generally looks healthier. I have however noticed the bottom is a little brown. Having a look on this site I am wondering if it is "corking." Is this likely?

Re: What Am I?
Whatever it is, it's beginning to etiolate, so it needs from light. Saguaro looks about right, though, and as for the corking, it looks more like dessication to me, but I can't really see it properly.
Re: What Am I?
This one is hard to say. I see why Saguaro was suggested, though those are usually wider at that height. Perhaps a young Pachycereus pringlei? Or a Neoraimondia?
All Cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are Cacti
Re: What Am I?
With all those suggestions in mind and having looked through the galleries on here the first image in the gallery for Carnegiea gigantea is probably the one that most resembles the actual thing.
I only took it on a few months ago. When I received it, I am pretty sure it had more browning on the bottom and it was paler. It was already etiolated when I received it. When my brother had it, it was rarely watered and I know did not receive enough sunlight. Since then it has been watered suitably and has been put in a good spot on the windowsill. I am not expecting miracles but am sure it's better than it was.
Any more suggestions on ID are welcome, though I am currently leaning towards Carnegiea gigantea...
Thanks for the help everyone, it's really appreciated!

Re: What Am I?
If that is a saguaro it is one that has had something drastically bad happen to it. Like it was getting so little light ... but I dont think it is one. Saguaros generally are pear shaped. The stem is narrow and it grows fatter at the top (so an upside-down) pear shape. (also some call it club shaped) whatever the case I am not positive that is a saguaro at all.
