Grafting mystery seedling on Echinopsis pachanoi indoors

Post by CactusBoss »

i want to graft one of my seedlings onto either my Opuntia humifusa or my Echinopsis pachanoi. the only problem is i do not have a greenhouse all i have is a bright window for light.how well would it work if i grafted inside with superglue(i cant do the rubber band thing)i am planning to do this in the spring.

It actually tends to work out pretty well if they are grafted and placed in a windowsill. As long as the grafted plant has a tight connection to the base plant without any airbubbles there shouldn't be a problem

one more thing would i be able to graft the non cold hardy cactus seedling on to a hardy plant fit for zone 5a and have it survive outside(my opuntia humifusa is the fastest growing of all my cacti)

The cold tolerance generally does transfer from stock to scion in a sense, buy I wouldn't risk letting a grafted plant take a hit from frost

im not planning on it now lol. i could just take my opuntia when its actively growing outside and bring it in when i want to graft that way i have a higher grafting success rate(i dont think my pachioni grows so fast indoors
