Huernia thuretti care

Post by JungleMel »

Hi guys,

I'm brand new to growing succulents, but have been growing other types of plants for years. I bought a Huernia thuretii online to try my hand at growing these. The care information online is severely limited, surprisingly so. I get the general idea of a well draining mix and letting the soil dry completely before watering again, but beyond that I can't find much info. If anyone is growing this species and has more information or even general care tips I would really appreciate your help. I'd like to have it bloom someday!

This is a fairly easy growing species. It's only really enemies are overwatering and mealy bugs. Depending where you live.... Water about once a week to 10 days in spring/summer, leave drier in winter, maybe every 3-4 weeks.

It should be in bloom now. Maybe it's not old enough yet?

Thanks Darryl. It's still in transit, so I'm not sure yet, but It's small. At what point do you know it is mature enough to flower? Sorry if these are too basic of questions for this forum, but I did use the search tool as well as trying to google for info and really haven't found decent answers.

Well, even when grown from seed, they'll bloom within a year or 2. Cuttings much sooner. Size wise, it can vary, but on average 3" tall and as thick as your thumb.

Thanks again. You've been a huge help. I'm glad it's an easy species then, we'll see how it goes!
