My cacti graft experience
My cacti graft experience
I would like to present an example of successful multiplied Astrophytum (hybr.)cacti graft on to areoles of Hamatocactus hamatocanthus - 24 species!!...
Any multiplied graft samples see, please, in the opuntia graft section.

They're brilliant.
-What do you have all of the seedlings temporarily sitting on after you cut their roots? Is that a piece of cut cactus?
-How long did you leave the tape and spines attached?
-Did you core out the growing tip in order to allow only the scion's to grow?
Sorry I can't help. Just questions.

1) - seeds temporarity sitting on Opuntia (humifusa) plate (10 - 20 - 30 min). It's very comfortable!... for grafting process...Jefff wrote:They're brilliant.

2) - about 3-4 days
3) - for successful grafting on to areoles I usually cut out the top of stock with the aim of areoles "awakening" before 1-2 days. This method also useful for grafting on to Pereskiopsis areoles!
Grafts on to Opuntia areoles? This very interesting!m4rkz0r wrote:You have have some pretty cool grafting techniques Skif. They're very inspiring, I'll have to try some multiple aereola grafts with Opuntia next spring and I'll post pictures when I do.
Opuntia - i.e. Austrocylindropontia subulata? Or another stock? These grafts very interesting in science relation!
How you degraft(root) them . But really amazing!Skif_S wrote:Colleagues, please, take pleasure in photo view of four grafts of Hamatocactus setispinus (f. micromonstrosa cv. "Microsha" - my selection!) on to Pereskiopsis.

Little Hamatocactus roots already formed easily two month ago that very simplify degrafting and growing these species in future.liisa8800 wrote:How you degraft(root) them .
