Bromeliads and Orchids and some more Remodelling

Post by doctor289 »

I know they are not cacti (got some flowers coming so look out for more posts) but thought some of you might be interested.

Orchids and bromliad. No idea the species but quite nice flowers.

Spectacular bromeliad that has now flowered for the second time in six months. They seem to love the Lima climate and the polycarbonate roof. That and getting sprayed twice a day.

The cactus garden was not enough. Had to give the bromeliads suitable home as well. Several tons of flag stones, teaching a Peruvian bricklayer artistic layout, second pump for from the jacuzzi.

The real shame is when I leave Peru can't take any of this or the plants with me.

Then we have the two parts of the cactus garden, coastal and lower level species along the front of the terrace and cordilleran and higher altitude species in the rockery.

All in all I am rather happy with my little corner of peace and tranquility.

Very nice indeed!

I sorely wish I had a balcony with our condo to be able do something like that.

Thanks for that Peter. Not sure yet which I find more interesting: Bromeliads of Cacti.

Do you collect them both as well?

Bromeliads are great. I had a number of them in San Clemente, but haven't got a place for them here. Definitely a favorite.

I see one Epi cactus in the mix. Perhaps you could mix some more of those in with the Bromeliads...

Very nice indeed!
My balcony is sooo small - I put a bromeliad pot in the middle, I can't pass by.
