A huge Jump!

Post by daiv »

Most users ever online was 231 on 09 May 2011 04:14 am
This stat was something like 78 since 2007. I just noticed that two days ago we apparently broke a record -by a lot.

I really don't know if this number includes search bots or if there is some code to remove those. :dontknow:

Yes, definitely includes guests. But I've never seen near that many users and guests on at one time. :dontknow:

Isn't May 9th the World Cacti Day or something ?

You probably have access to stats or log, you could probably check out requests from bots that precise day. I imagine such an important jump would have had also effects on the site's stats. They might not be that easy to find but if you use something like Google Analytics, you could check up the ISP IN search for "*.google.com or other hints.

Somewhere on the site, someone posted something that tickled Google. Experiment, pick a hot current event and post up some seemingly relevant keywords in Free For All. Bots spider forums so frequently that Google may pick it up within minutes.

I always wondered why there were 71 people on in October let alone 231 now.
