Hi from Barbados ( an island in the Caribbean)

Post by LazyD »

I am a bit late since I have joined the group about a week ago but nevertheless hello to everyone.

I am enjoying this site very much so far especially the forums - there is such a wealth of knowledge and so much to learn.

My cactus and succulent collection is very small (currently 2 of each type) but I am hoping to expand very quickly.

If there are any members from the Caribbean out there I would like to hear from you

Hi!
I don't think we have many people from there. Glad to have you and looking forward to seeing your plant and maybe even some native cactus in your area. :)

Hello, and welcome to the cactus and succulent forums. I do live in the desert, which is not quite like the Caribbean island of Barbados, but we do have a lot of sand, including the whitest one in the world (White Sands National Monument) and I own a few coins from your country. :)

Thanks for all the warm welcomes - I feel like part of the "family" already!!

Daiv there is not much local cactus to share with you guys but there are some popular succulents that I can share with you.

Considering I live in the Cariibean and it is either hot or raining I am really not sure how to treat my cactus/succulents. I am trying my hardest not to over water them....but it so hard not to give them some water after a long hot day!!

Hi Sweetsaphie - welcome to the forum

I hope you will share pictures of your cacti with us - especially the ones you got from Barbados that were just lying on the ground!

The stinky flowering plant is probably some form of Stapelia. I am sure there others on the forum who also have this plant and will be able to name it properly for you.
