The quote is from david Ferguson, not me. Take some photos of that Opuntia and post them, Tony, I'd be interested to learn more about California prickly pear.

That will be an intersting experiment. There are more than 100 Luther Burbank hybrids in backyards here plus all of the collected species and the backyard hyrids from those.

HEllo Cereusly, I am wondering about those inverted cans on sticks. What are they for?
Just curious,
Bill
PS Wonderful garden.

Didn't realize you had so many Opuntias. That's quite a variety.
All Cacti are succulents, but not all succulents are Cacti

Ptcg, Look no further, you can have that cutting lying on the pot in the picture for the price of shipping. This Opuntia has no spines or glochids. Tony

Tony, those are all the most amazing Opuntia engelmannii. (Not sure I see an engelmannii in the whole lot, but still....)

MildBill, Those coffee cans on the sticks are/were used to start plants and seeds. I just punch a few hole in the bottom of the can for drainage. The rust is also an excellent source of iron. Tony

btw as an aside the little single pad Tony sent me awhile ago has gained several pads in a pot. They aren't huge but it sure beats others in pots for size.
(save an O. ficus-indica that is awaiting transplantation. One like the first plant that Tony sent me which is label O. x vaseyi has grown a single pad this year.
