The fruit is edible, or at least not poisonous. Most Mammillaria fruit are quite tasty. The seed inside can be planted and should grow in a couple of weeks if kept warm and moist, but this is an unusual plant and perhaps your seed was sterile. I get an occasional fruit but haven't tried sowing the seed. Here is my plant on a rare day out:

here is my cactus now and am very surprise coz of how rich my cactus produce fruits i wish i can taste it hahahaha no am scared hahahaha tnx u for the time and effort u give... hope to see more of ur cactus god bless u take care
