Growing in the Sierra Nevada "Rain Shadow "
First hardy cactus to bloom this season. Pediocactus simpsonii. I have three growing, this is the only one in bud.
I guess something is better than nothing.
It will take a while before the rest of my cati catch up.

Most of mine are in the same state of semi consciousness. We keep getting teased by the weather. One or two days in the upper sixties then back down in the forties. Still getting frost six out of seven days.Mine are still wiping the sleep from the eyes

Yeah, weather here is about the same but we're seeing night temps at or below freezing at timesJohn P Weiser wrote:Most of mine are in the same state of semi consciousness. Thank you all for your kind comments.
It's at least a start to the season. I hope it will open multiple flowers in the next day or two. I will post them, as I do not have any others vying for my attention just yet.
In the mean time,I will just satisfy my need for color, with non-cacti subjects.

Up dated shot of the Pediocactus simpsonii with multiple flowers open.
Gymnocalycium sp? I tried three species this last winter. The other two met their maker. This one survived!
