Post by John P Weiser »

First hardy cactus to bloom this season. Pediocactus simpsonii. I have three growing, this is the only one in bud.

I guess something is better than nothing. :)
It will take a while before the rest of my cati catch up. :?

Most of mine are in the same state of semi consciousness. We keep getting teased by the weather. One or two days in the upper sixties then back down in the forties. Still getting frost six out of seven days. :?

Yeah, weather here is about the same but we're seeing night temps at or below freezing at times

I do have some G. pulchellas showing new growth though :D

Thank you all for your kind comments. :D
It's at least a start to the season. I hope it will open multiple flowers in the next day or two. I will post them, as I do not have any others vying for my attention just yet. 8)
In the mean time,I will just satisfy my need for color, with non-cacti subjects.

Hello John,
I do like that combination of the soft pink and the bright yellow center of the blossom. That is a nice plant you've got there! :D

Yeah, that's swell John! I hope the others bloom too! They might have yellow flowers too.

Gymnocalycium sp? I tried three species this last winter. The other two met their maker. :( This one survived! :D
