Hey guys
I'm heading to SoCal next week and would like to see this species. I've learned it occurs at Torrey Pines and Cabrillo National Monument, so I'll try those places--Torrey Pines first.
Any suggestions, or even GPS points would be fab. Please PM sensitive info to me directly.
I'm purely interested in seeing, not poaching! My conservation record is great--I worked for The Nature Conservancy for 11 years, created and was Director of the conservation program for the International Carnivorous Plant Society, and served on a number of committees in the IUCN. So, you can be sure I will respect your location data and the organisms associated with them!
Cheers
Barry

I'll grow it as long as it doesn't have glochids. Gaudy flowers a plus.
Re: Ferocactus viridescens sites
Hey, Barry, have you found some F. viridescens during your trip to San Diego?
These cacti are almost everywhere in the wild areas of that city. I found some close to the Desert Garden of Balboa Park.
I was there in October, so had no chance to see any flowers.
Also some at Torrey Pines, along the walking paths:
The last one was been heavily kicked being on the hiking trail.

If your cacti mess in your job just forget about the job.
